Security Information

  • Compliance with the requirements of the National Civil Aviation Security Programme,
  • To fulfil applicable requirements of other countries to which services are provided,
  • Security policy of the company includes security standards and goals.

  • If such a refusal is required to comply with any of the laws, rules or directions applicable in the countries or states from which the plane is to take off, land or transit through, 
  • If the behaviour, age or mental or physical condition of the passenger necessitates special assistance by Tailwind Airlines or causes disturbance and objections from other passengers,
  • If such passenger or baggage poses a risk or danger for other people or goods,
If the passenger refuses security check;
  • If the passenger does not have the required travel documents, 
  • If the event that the passenger will try to enter a transit country, 
  • In the event that the passenger destroys documents during flight,
  • If the passenger cannot deliver travel documents to the flight crew when requested by Tailwind Airlines,

All outgoing, transfer and transit passengers and their cabin baggage (hand baggage) are screened to prevent entry of forbidden objects into the security restricted area and into the aircraft. 

Tailwind Airlines makes available warning signs about "hazardous materials" and "warning for passengers" at check-in counters to remind passengers the safety rules they should follow during the flight and to prevent any hazardous materials being transported in passenger baggage.

Please pack your own bags or supervise packing of your bags for your own safety. Please ensure to check all closed boxes, packages and all packaging when packing your bags. Never accept any item to be taken to somebody else.

Use of portable/mobile phones and walkie-talkies, CD-players, radio and television sets is strictly forbidden during the entire flight. 

Radios, electronic games, laptop computers and similar electronic devices may not be used when "fasten your seat belts" warning lights are turned on as such devices and equipment can cause deletion of all necessary information for the flight in the flight computers.

Passengers are not allowed to take prohibited items into the security restricted area or into the aircraft. Firearms, explosive and hazardous materials which can pose a risk in civil aviation security are considered as prohibited items.

Prohibited items for cabin bags or on person may be carried in the cargo hold provided that they are not included in the list of prohibited items for hold baggage (check-in baggage). 

In the event of increasing threats, Tailwind Airlines implements passenger and cabin baggage search and screening methods according to the threat levels as shown in the "Actions to be Taken to Respond to Illegal Acts" of the National Civil Aviation Security Programme 11th Edition and Part 5 if it is in the country Tailwind Airlines is registered and if not according to those included the procedures on "Measures to be Taken in Security Alarm" of the airport.

A-Inadmissible Passenger; 

An INAD passenger is a passenger who has not been accepted by the authorities of the country to which the passenger wants to enter (missing documents, forged documents or no visa). Additionally an INAD passenger is a passenger who has an expired passport or no visa but suspected to try to obtain work permit if allowed to enter in the country. 

B-Deportee Passenger; 

A person who overstays its legal permitted period of stay within a country or who commits a crime according to the laws of the country and therefore should be deported. 

Deportee passenger is deported to his/her country with the same flight he arrives if there is seat available on the return flight. If there is no seat available, overbooking rules apply as discussed in the relevant section.

Tailwind Airlines or the pilot in command is authorized to refuse such a passenger. If the pilot in command fears that the lives of other passengers are under threat, he is authorized and responsible to decide to refuse the passenger on board. Authorities together with the pilot in command decide whether the deportee will be escorted by authorized personnel (escort) and if necessary the escort gets on the plane with the deportee.

The escort stays with the deportee starting from the check-in procedure till the end of the flight or till the deportee is handed over to the relevant authorities. 

C-Person in Lawful Custody;

A person in lawful custody (under arrest or convicted by court) may not travel with an aircraft without an authorized escort. 

In the event that the person in lawful custody is believed to pose a threat for the safety of other passengers, Tailwind Airlines may refuse to accept the person in lawful custody in the aircraft. 

If the pilot in command fears that the lives of other passengers are under threat, he is authorized and responsible to decide to refuse the passenger on board.

Authorized escort(s) should inform their seat numbers to the pilot in command and the flight crew.

This does not apply for the people in lawful custody who are on leave in accordance with the relevant laws. They can travel with a "Photo Permit Document" without any escort personnel.

D-Unruly Passenger;

The final decision for an unruly or disruptive behaviour on board is given by the pilot in command. This includes the process starting from boarding of passengers before takeoff and closing of doors until opening of the doors following the landing to disembark in accordance with the Tokyo Convention.

There are restrictions on liquids and items of similar consistency that can be carried in hand-bags of passengers. For example; gels, aerosols, toiletries such as shampoos, creams, toothpastes ) 

Each liquid must be in its own container of no more than 100 ml and all items should be placed in a transparent, resealable and leak-proof bag and the total weight of all liquids must not exceed 1 litre. Additionally, all of these items will be removed from the hand bag by the passenger and placed in the

X-ray device during security check. 

Special items such as medicines and baby food are allowed provided that they are in separate containers however like liquids these are also checked by taking them out from the hand bag.

Medicines (provided that medicines have prescription in the name of the passenger or a doctor's note reporting that the passenger should use these medicines and that medicines are in their original packaging);

Baby foods (provided that the baby travels on board and up to the quantity that can be needed during the flight);

Security officers at the check point may ask you to document the exceptional circumstances or taste the drug / baby food / liquid.


Duty Free products may only be sold to passengers of international flights. If the passenger is a transit passenger flying to another airport, the passenger should not buy liquid duty free products.

Personnel at Duty Free Shops first check the boarding pass and passport of a passenger and then proceed with the purchase of products. Products purchased should be in sealed and transparent bags and the receipt which shows the purchase day and the name and address of the duty free shop should be stapled in a visible way on the outside of the bag. If the passenger has a connecting flight between Schengen countries, the seal of these bags should not be opened until the final destination.

If a liquid duty free product is bought in a non-EU country such as Turkey and the passenger will fly as a transit passenger from the next airport, this liquid product is confiscated by customs officers/security staff in the transit airport. 

Rules for the transport of firearms on aircrafts including landside and airside areas are as following:

  • No one can carry firearms in the airport terminal and security restricted area except those that are authorized to do so.
  • Firearms are transported on airplanes according to the rules and procedures explained in art. 123 of MSHGP.
  • Firearms may not be transported in aircrafts unless they meet the required security conditions and are allowed by the relevant countries. Firearms is transported in aircraft cabins in accordance with the article no 93 of the Law no 2920 on Turkish Civil Aviation. .
